PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for removing carbon attached to oven wall of carbonization chamber of a coke oven, in which increase of pushing load and increase of soot by excessive burning-off of carbon can be prevented in the case where a ratio of non-slightly caking coal in formulated coal charged into a carbonization chamber becomes≥25 mass%. SOLUTION: The method for removing carbon attached to the oven wall of coke oven carbonization chamber comprises feeding an oxygen-containing gas into the carbonization chamber by inserting a plurality of lances 3 from a coal-charging inlet 2 of the carbonization chamber 1 of the coke oven, burning carbon attached to the oven wall by fed oxygen-containing gas and discharging a combustion gas from a raising pipe part 4 to burn and remove the attached carbon. In the carbon-removing method, as distribution of the amount of the oxygen-containing gas fed in the pushing-out direction of coke, the amount of oxygen-containing gas fed on coke discharge side 5 from the center part of the carbonization chamber is kept largely than the amount of oxygen-containing gas fed on the raising pipe side 6 from the center part the carbonization chamber.
