PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a reduction of the amount of backlash of an engagement part and a reduction of rattling of a pinion in an axial length direction by means of single elastic ring. SOLUTION: A supporting hole 54 of a housing 5 supporting a shaft section 3c at an opposite electric motor side of a worm 3 interlocked and connected with an output shaft 1a of an electric motor 1 through a rolling bearing 8 fitted on the shaft section 3c is tapered with respect to a central axis line. Between this supporting hole 54 and an outer race 8b of the rolling bearing 8, the elastic ring 20 having a first pressing section 20a for pressing the worm 3 against a worm wheel 4 and a second pressing section 20b for pressing the outer race 8b of the rolling bearing 8 against the one side of the axial length direction of the worm 3 is pushed in. The elastic ring 20 is slacked and thereby applying a preload on the engagement part, so that a preload is applied on the rolling bearing 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
