PURPOSE:To measure a trace analite material or organism having pH change inducing performance with a simple operation by providing a cell having inlet port and outlet port for a substrate solution and a pH electrode housed in the cell. CONSTITUTION:A sample solution is sucked to the top end part of a capillary tube 1 and rested for a fixed time. Thus, an analite material or organism having pH change inducing performance which is a subject to be measured is caught on the inner wall surface of the tube 1. The tube 1 is then inserted into a cell 4, and the sensitive surface of a pH electrode 4 is perfectly enclosed by the inner wall of the tube 1. A substrate solution is supplied to the inlet port 2 of the cell 4 from a liquid basin 10 by a feed pump 6 in the state where the tube 1 is housed in the cell 4. The substrate solution is carried through the tube 1 and exhausted from the outlet port 3, and the inner part of the tube 1 is thus washed with the substrate solution. Thereafter, the pH change in the inner part of the tube 1 accompanying the reaction of the substrate in the substrate solution is measured. The concentration of the analite material or organism which is the subject to be measured in the sample is determined from the pH change speed. |
