The lamp tube (1) made of quartz glass is sealed with mercury, inert gas and mixed halogen gas containing two or more types of halogen gas such as iodine, bromine and chlorine. The content of main halogen gas in the mixed gas is set high according to the load of tube surface. An independent claim is also included for high pressure discharge lamp manufacturing method.
