<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic inkjet ink composition enabling a dot having a high density and causing little bleeding to be printed at a high speed, having excellent drying property on a recording sheet, water resistance and light resistance of the recorded image, also having high-speed fixity and scratch resistance, and allowing the stable printing for a long period; and to provide a method for forming an image by using the composition. <P>SOLUTION: The ink composition for an electrostatic inkjet recording device comprises a nonaqueous solvent having 1.5-20 dielectric constant and 15-60 mN/m surface tension, a coloring material, a resin and a charge regulator as main components. The resin comprises at least one kind of a repeating unit containing a specific styrene derivative component, at least one kind of a repeating unit containing a specific aliphatic group component, and at least one kind of a repeating unit containing a specific basic component.
