PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AV bitstream reproducing system and AV bitstream recording system in which a number of pieces of data are temporarily stored and the stored data can be quickly reproduced out in the order of storage by solving a problem that a number of pieces of data are temporarily stored but the stored data can not be quickly reproduced out in the order of storage in a conventional recording apparatus and reproducing apparatus. SOLUTION: N storage means 24, 25, an input means 22 for inputting an AV bitstream of a packet resulting from packetizing video or audio data with reproducing timing information of each of a plurality of predetermined packets recorded therein, and a control means 23 for performing control to divide the AV bitstream into N groups of packets and to separately store the groups of packets in the N storage means 24, 25, are included. Each of the groups of packets includes at least one packet in which the reproducing timing information is recorded, and the control means 23 divides the AV bitstream so that each of the groups of packets following each of the N groups of packets double includes packets after at least the final packet of packets wherein the reproducing timing information included in the preceding group of packets is recorded, thereby solving the problem that AV bitstreams can not be accurately connected for reproduction conventionally when dividing, recording and reproducing the AV bitstreams on a plurality of recording media.
