PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the backup memory capacity of a flash memory necessary for a program download for update. SOLUTION: An information processing device with a communication function comprises a communication interface part 1, a first rewritable nonvolatile storage part 2 for storing programs and update status information, a second nonvolatile storage part 3 for storing a boot program and an updating program for storing the update status information in the first nonvolatile storage part 2 at an update start and an update end, a work storage part 4, and a control part 5. The updating program temporarily stores a downloaded program in the work storage part 4 before storing it in the first nonvolatile storage part 2. If an updated program in process of update is found from the update status information in the first nonvolatile storage part 2 before a basic control program is loaded into the device at power application, the boot program downloads the latest version for update from a program management device 80.
