PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a waste treatment device capable of generating a combustible gas from a combustible matter included in a thermal decomposition residue from a thermal decomposition reactor. SOLUTION: This device comprises the thermal decomposition reactor 1 for heating and thermally decomposing the waste in a furnace by the heat of a gas that is a heat source to separate it to a thermal decomposition gas and the thermal decomposition residue; a combustible matter separator 9 for separating the combustible matter from the thermal decomposition residue generated in the reactor 1; and a gasification furnace 17 for gasifying the combustible matter separated by the combustible matter separator 9. The gasification furnace 17 is a vertical gasification furnace in which the combustible matter separated by the separator 9 is put from the upper side and moved toward the bottom, and it is adapted to supply a gasification agent and steam from the bottom side and extract the generated combustible gas from the upper side.
