PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structurally simple skeleton structure of a building, which can be easily assembled, which brings about short construction period, a reduction construction cost and effective utilization of a material, and which facilitates change and extension after construction, and a construction method therefor. SOLUTION: In this skeleton structure 1, a building skeleton 7 is formed by appropriately combining a vertical framework 3 and a horizontal framework 5 together, and the vertical framework 3 and the horizontal framework 5 are constituted by singly using an axial element 9 with a single rectangular cross section or combining the axial elements 9 together. In the construction method, after the assembly of a basic skeleton 39, the other axial elements 9 are combined together by using clearance parts 43 and 49 among the axial elements 9, so that an extended framework 45 can be formed. Additionally, after the assembly of the basic framework 39, a part of the vertical framework 3 or a part of the horizontal framework 5, or both the part of the vertical framework 3 and the part of the horizontal framework 5 is or are cut off so that an opening framework 65 can be formed.
