PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication device which can secure a communication path without damaging device's convenience when a communication error occurs. SOLUTION: The communication device is provided with an error detecting means for detecting an error on packet data which are sent from a master communication device connected via a communication path, and a communication cutoff means for arbitrarily cutting off logical connection with the master communication device. When a low first communication rate is changed into a high second communication velocity, a communication error processing means uses the error detecting means to monitor the situation of error occurrence and, in accordance with the situation, further uses the communication cutoff means to logically cut off the connection with the master communication device, thereby forcibly recovering a communication initial status, and performs the logical connection with the master communication device again after setting the second communication rate to an unsupported state.
