<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for purifying original air in an air liquefying/separating apparatus, by which the original air can surely and efficiently be purified while keeping the usage of an oxidation catalyst for removing hydrogen and carbon monoxide to a minimum and prolonging the service life of the oxidation catalyst when the moisture, carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide in the original air are removed at the same time by packing the oxidation catalyst and an adsorbent for removing moisture and carbon dioxide in an adsorption column. <P>SOLUTION: This method for purifying the original air comprises a step to pack in the adsorption column the adsorbent for removing moisture and carbon dioxide and a gas treating agent which contains the oxidation catalyst for oxidizing hydrogen and carbon monoxide into moisture and carbon dioxide and adsorbs the produced moisture and carbon dioxide and a purification step to introduce the original air into the adsorption column while keeping the temperature of the original air at≤40°C and heating the gas treating agent by the heat of adsorption generated when the adsorbent adsorbs the moisture in the original air so that the gas treating agent reaches the highest temperature of≥45°C, preferably, for the time of≥5/6 of the purification step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
