PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion and a silver halide photographic sensitive material excellent in suitability to sensitization and desensitization and in color reproducibility. SOLUTION: The silver halide emulsion satisfies the following requirements (a)-(d) and the silver halide photographic sensitive material contains the silver halide emulsion: (a)≥50% of the total projected area of all the silver halide grains is occupied by grains having an average aspect ratio of≥12, (b) a coefficient of intergranular variation of circle-equivalent grain diameters in the total projected area of all the silver halide grains is <25%, (c) an average silver iodide content of all the silver halide grains is≤4 mol%, (d) silver halide grains in which an iodine localized phase is present along the insides of dislocation lines present in each peripheral region of main planes and the interior region enclosed by the iodine localized phase has a substantially uniform phase having an average silver iodide content of≤1 mol% are included by≥50% of the total projected area of all the silver halide grains.
