PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispose orientational protrusions to be disposed on substrates to hold a liquid crystal in between for controlling orientation of the liquid crystal with a dry process. SOLUTION: In manufacturing the substrate which forms a liquid crystal display panel having the liquid crystal held between the opposing substrates and which has the orientational protrusions for controlling an orientation direction of the liquid crystal, a forming method including a step to laminate a dry film resist consisting of at least a supporting body and a photosensitive layer formed by laminating a photosensitive resin composition on the side, in contact with the liquid crystal, of at least the one substrate holding the liquid crystal between the opposing substrates (1), a step to pattern expose the photosensitive layer via a mask with a light shielding pattern (2), a step to release and remove an unnecessary part, a pattern exposed part of the photosensitive layer, together with the supporting body and to leave only a necessary part on the substrate (3) and a step to heat the necessary part of the photosensitive layer left on the substrate so as to make the necessary part heat flow, make the left photosensitive layer harden in semispherical shapes and turn into the orientational protrusions (4).
