PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image in focus on a projected image even in the case of projecting the image from an oblique direction to a screen surface, and to improve the handleability of a device by a user by tilting a projector to the screen surface to exceed a range depending on the depth of the image surface of a projection lens. SOLUTION: The projector for projecting the image formed on an image display element to a surface to be projected through a projection optical system has a rotation means for rotating the projection optical system centering the vicinity of the emitting side pupil position of the projection optical system so that out of focus on the picture projected from the oblique direction to the surface to be projected may be small.
