PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surveying system by which a position relation between a surveying device and a camera is calculated simply and quickly. SOLUTION: The surveying device 10 in which a digital still camera is built takes photograph on the image of a survey object. Four reference points are optionally selected on the photographed image, the positions of each reference point are surveyed. The image of the survey object is photographed by a hand-held camera 20. The image data photographed with the built-in camera and the surveying data of the reference point, and the image data photographed by the hand-held camera, are transferred to the surveying device 10. A template image centering on the reference point is extracted on the image photographed with the built-in camera. Based on the template image, a corresponding candidate point is detected out of the images photographed with the hand-held camera. A merit function of the image coordinate obtained from the surveying coordinate and the image coordinate of the corresponding candidate point is calculated. The group of the corresponding candidate points that the merit function becomes minimum is the true corresponding point to the reference point. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
