PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for testing the display quality of an electronic display through the degree of disorder of luminance distribution. SOLUTION: Display images on the electronic display tested in a moving or stationary manner are acquired by a photographing unit (CCD electronic microscopic camera or CMOS digital camera). Images of various image patterns are acquired by the photographing unit, then passed through an image digitalizing unit (such as an image capture card), and transmitted to a disorder-degree detection unit. Disorder characteristic values are acquired by applying a formula of disorder-degree analysis to data acquired by digitalizing all images captured by a computer, and statistically analyzed. A domain in which an allowable standard difference range is exceeded is displayed to display an abnormal quality portion of the electronic display. The purpose of automated inspection is achieved by replacing a conventional manual/visual inspection method by such a testing method. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
