摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control a following distance without a sense of incongruity even when a new precedent vehicle is cut between a precedent vehicle and own vehicle while a setting following distance is changed. SOLUTION: A gain increasing ratioβaccording to a relative speed Vr of own vehicle and a precedent vehicle is set. When a direction of a change of the relative speed accompanying the change of a setting following distance dc by a driver is equal to a direction of the change of the relative speed generated according to the following distance control, the gain increasing ratioβis set larger than 1, responsivity of control is heightened to quickly control the following distance. When a direction of the change of the relative speed accompanying the change of the setting following distance dc is different from the direction of the change of the relative speed generated according to the following distance control, the gain increasing ratioβis set to 1, responsivity of control is lowered so as to eliminate sense of incongruity.
