PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water treatment apparatus which can properly control a reaction system for removing nitrogen compounds and can be manufactured at a low cost. SOLUTION: In the water treatment apparatus, nitrogen oxides are removed by electrolysis with an electrode pair in an electrolytic cell. A control circuit calculates a pH rise value (pHc) of water to be treated in a fixed time (5 seconds) in the electrolytic cell. It is considered that the larger the rise value is, the lower the removal degree of the nitrogen oxides in the water to be treated is, thereby a value of current flowing between the electrodes in the electrode pair is increased. When the rise value is equal to or less than a prescribed value (0.01), the electrolysis is terminated after carrying out it for a prescribed time (30 seconds). COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
