An electric power generator for fuel cell in which a proton conductor comprising as a main component a proton conductor gel having a dispersed phase composed of phosphate molecular chains and a dispersion medium composed of water is employed as an electrolyte layer; a process for producing the electric power generator for fuel cell; and a molding die for use in production of the electric power generator for fuel cell. This electric power generator for fuel cell comprises electrolyte layer (6) obtained by hardening high-viscosity proton conductor (7) composed mainly of a proton conductor gel into the form of a membrane of uniform thickness through precipitation of phosphate hydrate crystals, and further comprises electrodes (2,3) joined to both major surfaces of the electrolyte layer (6) in closely adhered relationship in accordance with the hardening. The electric power generator for fuel cell can be produced by, using molding dies (10) wherein while under die (11) and upper die (12) are superimposed on each other, there are provided closed cavity (13) for forming the electric power generator for fuel cell (1) and electrolyte holding groove (31) communicating with the closed cavity (13), molding high-viscosity proton conductor (7) arranged between electrodes (2,3) within the closed cavity (13) into the form of a membrane of uniform thickness and thereafter effecting precipitation of phosphate hydrate crystals within the proton conductor (7) to thereby harden the electrolyte layer (6). |
