A lead board for use with fork lift trucks wherein a lead section of the lead board is attached to the main body of the lead board by an insert comprised of a resiliently deformable material which dissipates the energy associated with impacts due to the misalignment of forks of a fork lift truck such that damage to the board is reduced/prevented by such impacts.
