PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding method and a grinding tool for a CVT sheave surface capable of improving grinding efficiency to the CVT sheave surface, and restricting flexure of a disc part in grinding the disc part. SOLUTION: In this grinding method for the CVT sheave surface, a backside 24 of the disc part 13 is supported by a disc backside support mechanism 61 for grinding a sheave surface 23. In grinding a shaft, the disc backside support mechanism is retracted. The grinding tool 45 is provided with the disc backside support mechanism 61 to support the backside of the disc part in grinding the sheave surface. The disc backside support mechanism is composed of a rotation support means 62 that is rotatable with the disc part, and a moving means 63 to move the rotation support means from a stand-by position 84 to a use position 83, and return it to the stand-by position after use.
