METHOD, DEVICE, AND PROGRAM FOR EVALUATING ENCODED VOICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate sound quality of a voice encoding system using only fixed-point operations by evaluating by an objective method the degree of sound quality deterioration due to replacement of floating-point operations with the fixed-point operations. SOLUTION: A source sound signal (101) is encoded by a floating-point operation to generate 1st compressed data (104) and the source sound signal (101) is encoded by a fixed-point operation to generate 2nd compressed data (105). Then the 1st and 2nd compressed data are decoded respectively to generate 1st and 2nd voice signals (107, 108). Then the SN ratio of the source sound signal and 1st or 2nd voice signal is calculated as a 1st SN ratio and the SN ratio of the 1st voice signal and 2nd voice signal is calculated as a 2nd SN ratio. Then the degree of deterioration of the 2nd compressed data is decided based upon the 1st SN ratio and 2nd SN ratio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
