PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring matter for thermal transfer recording which is excellent in hue, color density and light resistance of a recorded article, an ink for thermal transfer recording using it and a sheet for thermal transfer recording.

SOLUTION: The india aniline coloring matter for thermal transfer recording has a chemical structure of general formula (I) wherein R1is an alkyl group, an alkoxyl group or a trifluoromethyl group; R2is a halogen atom; R3is an alkyl group; R4is an alkyl group or an alkoxyl group; R5and R6are respectively independently an alkyl group, an alkoxyalkyl group, an alkoxyl group or a trifluoromethyl group; and m and n are respectively independently an integer of 1-3.
