<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine equipped with an intake air bypass-controlling device capable of preventing a compressor from approaching a surging region and obtaining a good torque. <P>SOLUTION: An outlet passage of the compressor 21 and an inlet passage of an exhaust turbine 22 of an exhaust-turbo supercharger 20 are communicated through a bypass duct 23, and the bypass duct 23 is provided with a bypass valve 24. When the operation status of the diesel engine 1 is in a low speed/high load region, a valve controller 30 controls the bypass valve 24 for adjusting the bypass duct 23 to the opening direction. As a part of inlet air flows into an exhaust duct 4, the exhaust turbine 22 rotates faster and an intake air volume increases, which makes the output of the diesel engine 1 increase.
