<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate which has high polarizing performance and which can be made to be a thin film with high manufacturing efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate consists of: a substrate; a wettability variable layer formed on the substrate, with the surface wettability of the layer variable by the effect of a photocatalyst accompanying energy irradiation; and a polarizing layer which contains a planar dye and is formed along the wettability varied pattern produced by varying the wettability of the above wettability variable layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
