PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding chair having a size in a folded state reduced as much as possible, and folded with a single operation. SOLUTION: The folding chair is composed of a leg portion 1 turned from an I shape to an X shape by fixing a front leg 3 and a rear leg 5 with shafts at the intermediate parts, respectively, a seat surface 10 disposed on the leg portion, backrest 14, and armrests 16. The upper part of the front leg and the lower part of the backrest are fixed to the rear part of the seat surface with shafts for closing the seat surface and the backrest with the leg portion into the I shape. The upper part of the rear leg and the front lower part of the seat surface are provided with locking means 6 and 20 for locking the upper part of the rear leg and the seat surface mounted on the upper part of the rear leg when the leg portion is opened into the X shape, and the front and rear ends of the arm rest of an arm shape are fixed to the upper part of the rear leg and the intermediate part of the backrest with shafts to connect the rear leg and the backrest.
