PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber cable having flexibility, having a tension member and an outer coating adhering to each other without requiring an adhesive or an adhering process, eliminating dislocation between the tension member and the outer coating by frictional resistance which generates during drawing the cable to a tube passage, preventing flexure of the cable or decrease in transmission characteristics, having high resistance against bending or shock, and causing no swelling of the outer coating by the heat during extrusion molding the outer coating. SOLUTION: In an optical fiber cable 10 comprising a coated optical fiber 11 and a tension member 12 both coated with the same material, the coated optical fiber 11 is prepared in a loose state by forming a space 15, and aramid fiber strings coated/impregnated with a water-proof resin are used as the tension member 12. A supporting wire 18 is disposed parallel to the optical fiber cable 10, and both are covered with the outer coating 13 into one body via a linking part 19. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
