PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a stable correction operation unaffected by characteristic variation of laser due to the variation of environment or the like by using the hold capacitor voltage of an APC or a bias APC as the reference voltage of a D/A converter or a PWM circuit in the shading correction of a laser scanner. SOLUTION: 1. A controller for an exposure means is provided with a circuit which has a reference voltage decided according to first light quantity of the laser and the D/A converter in which the reference voltage is used as a reference, and controls light quantity by the output of the PWM circuit. 2. The controller is provided with a circuit which has a reference voltage decided according to the first light quantity of the laser and a PWM circuit in which the reference voltage is used as a reference, and controls light quantity by the output of the D/A converter. 3. The first light quantity in 1 and 2 is the light quantity at the time of APC. 4. The first light quantity in 1 and 2 is the light quantity at the time of bias APC. 5. Correction data in 1 and 2 are correction data for the variation in the sensitivity of a photoreceptor. 6.
