PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic photoreceptor by which, in a step of forming a photoconductive layer of an a-Si photoreceptor, spherical protrusions which occur on the photoconductive layer can be removed and by which image defects can be reduced. SOLUTION: In a step of forming a photoconductive layer of an a-Si photoreceptor, by carrying out polishing, washing, and drying or the like at least two or more times, spherical protrusions which occur on the photoconductive layer can be removed and image defects can be reduced.
