<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce communication cost while managing the upper limit of the allowable number of copies for each department. <P>SOLUTION: The copying machine 2 is equipped with a control part 11, an input/output part 15 and a storage part 14. The control part 11 discriminates whether or not the number of copies has reached the upper limit of the allowable number of copies. The input/output part 15 can inform a host computer 1 of the remaining number of the upper limit of the allowable number of copies. When the control part 11 discriminates that the number of copies has reached the upper limit of the allowable number of copies, it informs the host computer 1 of the effect.
