<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To offer a motor controller which reduces power loss in an inverter, when a regenerative current is generated in a motor. <P>SOLUTION: This motor controller is composed of an inverter 16, which is constituted by connecting a plurality of FETs 21-26 in the form of bridge circuits and connecting diodes 34, in parallel with each FET so as to convert power to be supplied from a power source 17 to a motor 11; a current sensor 34 which detects a current flowing to the bridge circuit of each FET; and a controller 15 which switches on an FET corresponding to a current sensor, when the current detected by any of the plurality of current sensors is a regenerative current supplied from the motor. In this constitution, when the motor operates, for example, regenerative action, this supplies the regenerative current generated in the motor to the power source, not through the above diode, but through the switched-on FET.
