FORMED FIBER MATERIAL AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a formed fiber material in high efficiency at a low cost.

SOLUTION: The method for the production of the formed fiber material comprises a fiber blending step to mix a number of thick fiber pieces with a number of fine fiber pieces having a single fiber weight smaller than that of the thick fiber piece, a step to hold the blended thick fiber pieces and fine fiber pieces on the outer circumference 34 of a rotary roller 32 and rotate the pieces together with the roller, and a step to scatter the thick fiber pieces and the fine fiber pieces from the outer circumference 34 of the rotary roller 32 to a flat fiber-receiving plane 31 by the rotational force of the rotary roller 32 and form a fiber mat 20 having a low-density layer 24 coarsely formed mainly with the thick fiber pieces and a high-density layer 22 densely formed mainly with the fine fiber pieces on the fiber receiving plane 31. The method is further provided with a step to connect the low-density layers 24 of the 1st fiber mat 20 and the 2nd fiber mat 20 obtained by the mat-forming step and bonding the fiber pieces with each other.
