<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorizing method capable of realizing a deodorizing effect almost the same as that possessed by an enzyme-containing deodorant composition because there is possibility such that enzyme in a deodorant is scattered into air if the enzyme-containing deodorant composition for eliminating or reducing a malodor is sprayed and there is a problem for inducing asthma or fever when a person sucks scattered enzyme repeatedly and not requiring any anxiety with respect to the adverse effect on the person even if the enzyme-containing deodorant composition for eliminating or reducing a malodor is sprayed. <P>SOLUTION: In this deodorizing method, a deodorizing base agent is subjected to the contact treatment with enzyme and only the deodorizing base agent subjected to the contact treatment is adapted to a malodor occurring source to deodorize or reduce the malodor. A phenolic compound is preferable as the deodorizing base agent and phenolic compound oxidizing enzyme is preferable as enzyme.
