<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of parts in a liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal display panel arranged on both sides of a single light guide plate, respectively. <P>SOLUTION: A main light source 15 and a sub-light source 16 are arranged at the respective positions faced to a main plane of incidence 13 and a sub-plane of incidence 14 composed of two adjoining end faces of the light guide plate 12. The whole bottom surface of the light guide plate 12 is arranged as a main light path changing optical surface 17; the upper surface central part is arranged as a sub-light-path changing optical surface 18; and the other area is arranged as a flat surface 19. A main liquid crystal display panel is placed at the position corresponding to the main light path changing optical surface17 on the upper surface side of the light guide plate 12. Thus, both of the light path changing optical surfaces 17, 18 function as prism sheets, and eliminate the need for dedicated prism sheets. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
