PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a multipolar coaxial cable with a small size, low cost, and high reliability on shielding performance. SOLUTION: When assembling a plug type connector 3 by fitting a second unit 3b holding an end 24a of a cable assembly 24 into a first unit 3a, a central conductor of the coaxial cable 25 is press fitted to an insulation displacement blade at a U-shaped part 35 of a contact 28, and an external conductor is press fitted to an insulation displacement blade of a protrusion part 40b of a folded part 40 of a comb-tooth shape of a shell 29. Reliability of electromagnetic shield is heightened by directly and electrically connecting the external conductor to the shell 29. Simultaneously with the insulation displacement, a hook of the second unit 3b is engaged with a hook-engagement hole of the first unit 3a, and both units 3a, 3b are jointed to each other.
