PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker of high performance with an improved breaking performance of large current, capable of miniaturizing a switching mechanism. SOLUTION: Of the circuit breaker provided with a fixed contact point pedestal 12, a movable contact point pedestal 10, a switching mechanism equipped with a double-knot link consisting of an lower lever 32 and an upper lever 31 that are turnably mounted on the movable contact point pedestal 10 and carrying out a switching operation of the movable contact point pedestal 10, a handle operating part equipped with a handle 3 for manually ON/OFF operating the switching mechanism and turnably mounted on the upper lever 31, and an arc-extinguishing device installed in the vicinity of the fixed contact point pedestal 12 and the movable contact point pedestal 10, and containing the fixed contact point pedestal 12, the movable contact point pedestal 10, the switching mechanism and the arc-extinguishing device inside its container, the ratio of the length between rocking fulcrums of the upper lever 31 to that of the lower lever 32 is 1.3 or more.
