PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic sample preparation apparatus which eliminates waste of a staining liquid, even for a smaller number of samples, automatically performs processes from smearing through staining, and moreover, has a high degree of flexibility in the handling and control of glass slides. SOLUTION: The automatic sample preparation apparatus D comprises a smearing section 1, a cassette 2 as a storage member, a transfer section 3, a storage operation section 4, a staining section 5, and a storage section 6. The smearing section 1 smears blood on a glass slide 10, on which a sample is mounted. The cassette 2 comprises a storage section for storing one glass slide 10 and the staining liquid, and a hanging support section connected to the storage section. The transfer section 3 detachably holds the cassette 2 and transfers it. The storage operation section 4 stores the smeared glass slide 10 in the cassette 2 one by one. The staining section 5 stains the smeared glass slide 10. The storage section 6 stores the cassette 2, in which the stained glass slide 10 is stored. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
