PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic radial tire for heavy load excellent in the durability of its bead part, and in particular, favorably used in a tire having a low aspect ratio. SOLUTION: The pneumatic radial tire 1 for heavy load is structured so that bead fillers 6, 6 are arranged at the peripheries of a left and a right bead core 2, 2 and that the ends of at least one carcass layer 3 are fixed to the periphery of each bead core 6 upon being folded back from inside the tire to its outside, wherein the folded-back end 3a of the carcass layer 3 is positioned below the top 4a of a rim flange, and the periphery of each bead core 2 is folded back from inside to the outside in the tire axial direction in such a way as adjoining to the carcass layer 3, while at least one steel cord layer 5 extending along the outside of the bead filler 6 is installed, and the radial direction outer end 5A of the steel cord layer 5 is overlapped on the body of the carcass layer 3.
