PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent polishing spots from appearing by manufacturing a cylindrical polishing roll by overlapping circular arc shaped sheet-like materials 2 by a specified method to prevent thickness end faces of the sheet-like materials 2 from being horizontally arranged on an outer peripheral surface of the polishing roll. SOLUTION: This polishing roll is a kind of the cylindrical rolls. The circular arc shaped sheet-like materials 2a and 2b, etc. are prepared. It is desirable that the circular arc shaped materials 2 are made of nonwoven fabric and are provided with cut-outs 3 on the outer peripheries. The materials 2 are overlapped, while shifting a phase with a roll shaft 1 as a center on a peripheral surface of the roll shaft 1. The circular arc shaped sheet-like materials 2a and 2b, etc. therefore are wound around the roll shaft 1. When the sheet-like materials 2 are overlapped in a certain height, the materials 2 are compressed in the direction of the roll shaft 1 from both sides to obtain the cylindrical roll of prescribed hardness. In the materials 2, an overlapped region A is prepared, while shifting the phase with the roll shaft 1 as the center on the peripheral surface of the roll shaft 1, and a region B where the materials 2 are overlapped is prepared, while shifting a phase opposite to the phase.
