METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR STORING MULTIPLE ENTRY TYPES AND SEQUENTIAL INFORMATION USING SINGLE ADDRESSABLE STORAGE ARRAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple composition to maintain entry sequential rules using a single storage structure and to reduce a necessary storage space.

SOLUTION: A method and an apparatus, in which entries that have one of a plurality of entry types are stored and read out using a single addressable storage array 20 and sequential information for the stored entries is stored, are provided. An index pipe 30 maintains first-in, first-out order for entries stored in the addressable storage array 20. Stages in the index pipe 30 store addresses for entries stored in the storage array 20, and values that indicate types and validity of stored entries. Additional control logics 40 and 50 execute sequential rules between entry types.
