PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera capable of properly carrying out the white balance in the case of compositing images photographed with different sensitivities. SOLUTION: A color distribution is obtained from R, G, B integral values of images photographed with high sensitivity and low sensitivity multiplied with a white balance (WB) gain for a reference light source to obtain an evaluation value Fc() with respect to colors of an ambient light source (steps 200 to 212); an evaluation value Fy() with respect to the luminance of the ambient light source is obtained (step 214 ); the evaluation value H<SB>j</SB>of the ambient light source is obtained from the evaluation values (step 216); and the WB gain to control the WB balance is calculated so that the color of the light source becomes a white color from the H<SB>j</SB>with a threshold value or over and the gain is adjusted to be a value below the WB gain of the reference light source and to be a value suitable for the ambient light source (steps 218 to 222).
