PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a galvanized steel plate and a method for manufacturing the same in which spot-like defects, in particular, spot-like defects attributable to "dross-like defects" are reduced, and the surface appearance is excellent, and a galvanized steel plate and a method for manufacturing the same in which degradation of the surface appearance attributable to spangle pattern and ripple pattern can be prevented. SOLUTION: The galvanized steel plate of excellent surface appearance has a galvanized layer containing≥98 mass% Zn on a surface of a base steel plate containing 0.01-0.1 mass% P with the surface roughness Ra being 0.1-0.8μm, and the number of spot-like surface defects per square meter is≤100.
