PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust directions of outputted images in continuous copy operations as enhancing processing speed of copy operation using a skim system automatic document feeder, shortening first copy out time (FCOT) of platen copy and shortening time of continuous platen copy operations. SOLUTION: Operation modes of the platen copy are provided with a platen 2 mode which attaches importance to the FCOT without compression/decompression and 180°rotation processing, etc., a platen 3 mode in which the directions of the outputted images are the same as that of the platen 2 mode and a reading operation is executed during output of the previous page and a platen 1 mode in which the directions of the outputted images are the same as copy using the automatic document feeder and the reading operation is executed during the output of the previous page.
