PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion engine for recovering the waste heat capable of effectively used in power generation utilizing various waste heats, contributing to the protection of global environment without destroying the environment, and improving the comprehensive efficiency of the utilizing facilities such as cogeneration, hot spring and biomass. SOLUTION: This expansion engine EXP for recovering the waste heat comprises two-shaft axial flow rotors 3, 3' rotatably mounted in a case 1 provided with engageable screw parts 2, 2' on its outer periphery. The case 1 is provided with a fill port 4 on one side in the circumferential direction, approximately at a central part of the outer periphery to distribute the fluid W in the lateral direction in the case, and a discharge port 5 on the other side in the circumferential direction to discharge the fluid, and the screw parts 2, 2' are left-right symmetrically formed with respect to the fill port.
