PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper carrying direction switching mechanism and a recording device having the same for preventing an attitude of a rear end side of recording paper from being changed in switching a carrying direction. SOLUTION: The recording device 10 has a switching part 20 for switching the carrying direction of the recording paper S. The switching part 20 is provided with a switching part carrying roll 40 and a fixed driven roll 42 and an oscillating driven roll 44 for nipping the recording paper S between the driven rolls 42, 44 and the switching part carrying roll 40. A position of the oscillating driven roll 44 can be changed in accordance with a direction for discharging the recording paper S. As a position of the fixed driven roll 42 remains unchanged even when the position of the oscillating driven roll 44 is changed in accordance with the discharging direction, the attitude of the rear end side of the recording paper S is prevented from being changed.
