PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire tension control device capable of accurately giving necessary tension over a large range, in a wire-cut electric discharge machine. SOLUTION: In the wire-cut electric discharge machine, a dancer roller 21 and a workpiece machining portion 50 are disposed between a receiving portion 60 and a sending-out portion 10. The dancer roller 21 is controlled to be kept at a predetermined position, and wire 2 is made to travel at arbitrary speed. A strain gauge 45 is disposed between the dancer roller 21 and a workpiece machining portion 50, and a torque motor 24 for giving the tension to the wire 2 is continuously provided on a dancer arm 22 supporting the dancer roller 21 to compose a dancer portion 20. The strain gauge 45 and the torque motor 24 are connected to a controller 70, and controlled to give the predetermined tension to the wire. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
