<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce costs of an image processing apparatus by reducing the capacity of an image data storage means in the image processing apparatus for converting a shot image into a contour image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 21 generates a binarized contour image from an original image outputted from an image-taking section 2 and then stores the generated image in a storage means 20. A line buffer 8 that is provided between an image-taking interface 2a and a contour extracting means 3 stores only data of 3 lines required for contour image generation. The contour extracting means 3 generates contour image data by differential processing to send the result to a binarizing means 4. A binarizing means 4 binarizes the data and then writes data of eight pixels in the storage means 20 as 1 byte data. Among the original image data, a processing target region is selected and specified and further throughput is reduced by reading in curtailed pixel data, thus reducing the capacity of the storage means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
