PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera which can easily change over a photographing between a portrait image and a landscape image. SOLUTION: The digital camera is provided with: a lens unit 3 incorporated with a solid-state image pickup device 5 and an optical system 4, which collects light of an object image into the solid-state image pickup device 5; and a camera main body 2 provided with a lock mechanism 9, which locks rotation mechanisms 6a, 2a for rotatably holding the lens unit 3 at least within a range of 0°to 90°around the optical axis of the optical system 4 and rocks the lens unit 3 at least positions of 0°and 90°. Thus, the changeover of photographing between the portrait image and a landscape image can be performed by rotating the lens unit 3 without changing the attitude of the camera main body 2.
