PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the positioning method of optical components for an optical pickup for easily and surely positioning a holder even when an open distance is not sufficient from both surface sides of the holder whereon a light emitting element or a light receiving element is attached. SOLUTION: A V-shaped groove part 23 is arranged in the side surface of the holder 20 adjacent to the side surface whereon a photodetector 30 is fixed, and a chamfered part 25 making a specified angle with the lower surface being the reference surface is arranged at another side surface, then the fine adjustment of the position is attained for the holder holding member 40, after this holder 20 is held with the holder holding member 40 which is provided with a 1st guide member 41 whereon a positioning pin 46 to be abutted on the V-shaped groove part 23 is erected, while being mounted so as to be movable in parallel via a connection member 43, and a 2nd guide member 42 whereon a guiding component 48 having a protruding part 47 forming an abutting surface 47a parallel with the chamfered part 25 is erected, while abutting on the above chamfered part 25.
