PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase luminance of characters and patterns on a display surface and to suppress reflection on the display surface caused by external light for the purpose of solving a problem of a conventional display device in which luminance of characters is weak and unsuitable for outdoor use because of reflected image by external light. SOLUTION: For the purpose of increasing luminance of characters and patterns on the display surface, a diffuse reflector plate 2 is installed at a proper angle on the rear side of the display surface 1 as shown in Fig., and then, the light beams of LEDs 3 having a strong straight advance property are diffuse-reflected toward the display surface 1. In accordance with the required luminance for the display characters and patterns, the number of LEDs and the shape of the diffuse reflector plate are varied. In addition, for the purpose of shielding the reflection of external light, an optical acrylic filter is used that prevents reflected image on the display surface. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
